button festival 2026

For this year’s button festival (an event for the local gaming and nerd culture), taking place on the 6th and 7th of March, we were an additional force for the Game Dev Graz and helping out with the SAGA (StyriAn Game Award).

This Award promotes the development and consumption of local (styrian) made games with this year contestants being:

• Pale Coins (Lukas Irzl)
• Roguefall (Velwoot Games)
• Space Cowboy (ILIKESCIFI Games)
• Weblab (Causa Creations)
• Toni’s Turbo Tunnel (Anton Klinger)

We congratulate the winner Roguefall and are excited to be a helping hand again for button festival 2027!

Wii Sportsathlon 2025

Another year, another Wii Sportsathlon!
Last year it was Wii Bowling, this year we overshadowed Dominic Thiem with our skills in Wii Tennis.

6 Teams with two players each battled fiercly against each other, playing with intense power and such high concentration, giving everything to win and proving themselves as the ultimate masters.

The 3 best teams would win Wii Joycons, on top of being the undisputed champions of this nerve-wrecking and most exciting tournament.

We congratulate all of you for those great matches, and see you next year for some more olympic-worthy performances!

BeSt 2025

This year, we also had the opportunity to present our Arcade Machine for one day at the BeSt Graz, taking place from the 16th to the 18th of October 2025 in Messe Graz. BeSt “Beruf – Studium – Weiterbildung” is a trade fair for everyone interested in a study, further training and apprenticeships – so everything around education and work.

As the Game Dev Students Team from TU Graz, we could present the more fun part of studying and showcase which cool projects can be made possible.

GameDevDays 2025

Every year, the GameDevGraz (our “mothership”) is the host of this local community event taking place in TUG Inffeldgasse Campus, connecting game developers and interested people as well as the areas of industry, indies, academia and research within Graz and beyond.

Besides Networking and enjoying food, you can also listen to interesting talks from experts in the (global) gaming industry, get information about the latest news of the local projects and enjoy various game presentations.

This year’s highlight was probably the creation of a “zombie choir” with the audience by voice actress and metal vocalist Aliki Katriou, a member of THE MONSTER FACTORY.

On top of that, there is also a whole area where local games can be tested and played! This allows also for direct feedback and exchange, improving the game’s quality and creating a stronger bond between local nerds.

GamesCom2025

From the 20th to the 24th of August, we had the amazing opportunity to attend the largest gaming festival in the world in Cologne as a part of RAW TALENT in the Indie Arena Booth!

RAW TALENT thereby is a format that connects different universities from the DACH region – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – where students can showcase their projects, exchange ideas, gain experience and step into the big world of game development, reaching a wide audience of gamers, game developers, game critiques and all the other people that were coming by.

We exhibited our Arcade Machine that we built and designed ourselves before, featuring the two fun little games “Box in a Box” and “Duck in a Tub” (selfmade with love in Graz obviously).
You can also see some photos in the Projects area to have a sneak-peak into the creation of the Arcade Machine.
Besides exhibiting, we (very sadly) had to get the full experience of GamesCom and test some games (Resident Evil: Requiem, Pragmata, PowerWash Simulator, …), stroll through the artist area, admire Cosplays, do some Networking with other students as well as the local gaming industry and visit some parts of hte beautiful city of Cologne.

It was a blast and a truly enriching experience, making us wish to be there again next year!
